Who needs science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) education? You do — if you plan to stay relevant in the workplace, you need to acquire technical skills.
Today, 25 percent of all jobs require a high level of proficiency in any one of the four STEM disciplines. In broader terms, 73 percent of all jobs in our evolving, knowledge-based global economy are STEM-related in some way.
European Center for Leadership and Entrepreneurship Education (ECLEE), being a partner of Djagora University, has designed its STEM Plus program by addressing this basic philosophic question: “What must change inside the mind to accomplish innovation in the outside world?” We strongly believe that the earlier this mental shift is implemented in life, the better the results. Djagora’s STEM Plus program is a cohort program modeled after the Leadership Diamond®, a methodology for developing leaders at all levels. Developed by the renowned philosopher and author Dr. Peter Koestenbaum, Leadership Diamond® focuses on discovering human values and talent, cultivating them, and creating bridges that empower people in today’s business world to make a significant difference. Our objective is to prepare students to be responsible global workers and world citizens.
In addition to science and technology, STEM Plus program proposed by ECLEE encourages students to develop their capacity to adapt to real social and language skills, and their ability to solve complex problems. The STEM program basically promote the training of students from priority education zones and public from diverse while respecting gender. Djagora Academy is a Leadership Program designed by addressing this basic philosophic question: “What must change inside the mind of young person or an adult to accomplish innovation in the outside world?” We strongly believe that the earlier this mental shift is implemented in life, the better the results.

While most programs focus on invention, innovation, and creativity, Djagora Academy program is an interactive journey that brings together the wisdom and expertise learned by leaders and influencers to equip youth with resiliency and the personal leadership skills to navigate and succeed through life’s inevitable challenges. It is designed to teach the critical life principles that every person should know and incorporate into their life in order to reach their full potential.
The program adds several more components: Inspiration, Globalization, Language, Social responsibility and Culture through community projects, international mobility and direct contact with leaders and entrepreneurs.
Djagora Academy Program was created with the understanding that it takes an entire village to raise a child.
Djagora Academy studies offer extremely diverse careers, and informing students about existing possibilities, thus helping them choose paths that will best suit them, this process cannot be the job of teachers, parents, and career advisers alone.
Djagora Academy approach is the margin that makes for sustainability and for the competitive advantage: the margin that is chosen, freely, from the depth of one’s being. It is “to find that one thing for which I can live and that one thing for which I can die” (Søren Kierkegaard). It is “to do the one thing that must be done, but can’t be done, and that one thing which only I can do” (Victor Frank). Such is the meaning of life, mobilizing the full powers of who I am into the service of what is the right thing to do. The true value of long-term generosity is also the best way to satisfy the true agenda behind short-term greed.
Steve Jobs said his greatest achievement was not a plethora of Hi-Tech products but the creation of a company, of people working together, making aligned commitments!
Our unique approach is to open students’ own eyes to the world through community projects, services, language, culture, site visits, and field trips. The program capitalizes on the early interests of high school students by identifying their passions, building on what they know, and providing experiences that truly engage them in the working with others, serving their community in sciences and sustain their natural interest and curiosity. Most importantly, we bring students into direct contact with inspiring role models and entrepreneurs who have successfully pursued ethical careers and are now using their credential as well as their experiences to literally change the world.
In addition to science and technology, the Djagora Academy Program encourages students to practice and develop the following skills:
- Social Skills
- Language Skills
- Nonlinear Problem Solving
- Personal Development
Djagora Academy Program also aims to provide unique access to leadership for women, students from underprivileged backgrounds, and minority populations. We combine the best from the public and the private sectors to instill the “Djagora Academy” concept for all our students.
“… Leadership tomorrow depends on how we educate our students today—especially in science, technology, engineering and math.”
— President Barack Obama, September 16, 2010
