The EDEMES accompanies future academic or professional integration of PhD students. The doctoral thesis sign a charter that details the modalities of support and mutual responsibilities of the PhD student and the graduate school.

The organization and operation of the EDEMES

The EDEMES checks before registration of the doctoral student, his thesis project is part of the activities of one of the research units of the graduate school, and the student can benefit from effective supervision by (e) Director (trice) thesis, entitled to direct research. To make more efficient the efficient supervision of doctoral students, the graduate school favors collective leadership under the authority of the supervisor, with the involvement of non-HDR but doctors specialized in the subject area in which the enrolled PhD thesis project. Fixed a graduate school mentoring quota of five PhD students, at most, to a supervisor. Similarly, EDEMES enrolled immediately in an international dimension, emphasizing the theses written in French and English and the co-supervision. The graduate school considers that the requirement of effectiveness must lead the student to enter his thesis project in the standards in force, namely three years, with a derogatory year maximum.

The EDEMES works in the professional integration of the future doctor in helping to develop its visibility in the academic field through publications and communications to national and international levels. The PhD student also benefits from the doctoral board, from support to thinking about his post-doctoral professional project.

the graduate school of the board has, from the outset, an international dimension; it combines advanced researchers, recognized worldwide, in Africa, Europe, Asia and the United States. The Board meets at least once a quarter via the Skype interface, to deliberate on the guidelines, current affairs and the evolution of theses projects. It validates the recruitment of doctoral students. For its operation, the EDEMES relies on the directors of research units. All research units are informed of projects and theses under PhD candidates inscriptions. The directors of research units prepare their side, records doctoral candidates that are presented in the doctoral school board.

Seminars to doctoral students

The doctoral school follows strictly the credit system of PhD. As such, to doctoral seminars are held monthly and are subject to attendance control. These seminars are interdisciplinary; backed by a strong theoretical base, and a research approach respecting the high level of academic research, they open a horizon on the various disciplines of social sciences.

During the seminars, doctoral students are required to present their research work in progress, in particular in order to benefit from the critical faculty and their doctoral colleagues.
