Djagora University President’s

Senegal is a country that enjoys political and economic stability as well as a young population with high potential. With “Plan Senegal Emergent”, Senegalese government wants to strengthen the national education system by adapting it to market and job requirements. Djagora University has positioned itself as a key player in term of adequacy of training and employability, from a simple but profound question: how to create jobs when skills mismatch for the labor market is prevalent?

Our aim is to enable many young people to have access to the appropriate training that will allow them to be competitive in the labor market and also to create their own business. In addition to general education, we have developed professional certification trainings in advanced areas to ensure fast employability for unskilled youth.

Djagora means, “shepherd” in Fulani and Hausa languages. In the monotheistic traditions, it is indicated that the majority of the prophets started as shepherd during his life. The shepherd is one who corrects, treats, empathizes, leads and educates. Thus is summed up our philosophy: we are all shepherds of our lives. The Djagora logo expresses this philosophy with its trio of colors, namely, light blue, dark blue and orange. The light blue symbolizes peace, serenity, dark blue represents truth, wisdom and confidence while orange characterizes intelligence, influence and enthusiasm. These colors follow the movement of elevation, which draws them towards excellence.

Our curriculum for higher education and professional certificates programs are the result of an accurate reflection, and research on the needs of African labor markets. To implement them, we have developed a strategic partnership with universities, public and private institutions in the United States, Europe and Africa.

Create jobs by developing programs that emphasizes on skills and competences, is the philosophy of Djagora University. Our approach is simple and effective: Africans possess talents and intelligence, simply raise the skills and bring them to Excellence to develop their employability. Because the development of Africa needs skilled Africans equip with today and tomorrow’s skills, Djagora University fulfills public service a and aim at being a major player in the development of Africa.

Our first campuses are in Senegal; it is a country that enjoys political and economic stability as well as a young population with high potential. With Plan Senegal Emergent, Senegalese government wants to strengthen the national education system by adapting it to market requirements.
